The grids for these necklaces were drawn up on paper patterns cut to shapes large and small that could be worn easily. Basic instructions for the gridding of such shapes can be found in Contemporary Lace for You, and the grids themselves will be offered shortly for you to design into.
The designs make the most of the interesting shapes while remaining ultra-simple to make up – this is just basic Torchon, but bent in a curve.
Contemporary Lace for You also gives suggestions for findings; short chains may be made up from silver split-rings, with clasps or toggle bars added. The smaller necklaces may be worked in coloured 40/2 linen or similar and the larger ones in 16/2 weaving linen, stranded cotton and yarn of similar weight, including silk
