This collection of circular patterns has grown over the past 20 years under the stimulus of teaching. (The course for which they were designed to explain practical methods has similarly grown, from one day to one week.)
Some designs are simple geometric exercises and others are derived from architectural details spotted in the places the courses were run, to prove that suitable designs are all around us … if your mind is tuned to them, and if you look in a suitably determined manner.
New Plotadot grids have been issued to allow you to design your own, and there are also a variety of dot pitches now offered in addition to the basic one used here. It is intended that new designs will explore these.
